Description

Rashtriya Military Schools are residential schools for boys of Defence personnel and ex-servicemen, in class VI to VII. Established as King George’s royal Indian military schools for the children of Defence personnel. In 1952, the schools were reorganized on the grounds of Public Schools and admissions were begun, taking the sons of Defence Service Officers and civilians.

Rashtriya Military Schools’ motto of ‘Sheelem Param Bhushanam’, meaning ‘the character is the highest virtue’, has been the core behind the education and training provided to the students.

The schools are essentially category ‘A’ establishment of the Army. They are administrated by the Directorate General of Military Training at IHQ of MOD (Army). The Central Governing Council (CGC), headed by the Defence Secretary, Ministry of Defence, GOI, is the apex body for these schools.

Age Criteria:

  • Candidates should not be less than 11.5 years of age & must not have attended the age of 13 years on 01(Jan) and 01(Jun) at the term they joining.
  • Either studying in class VII or have passed Class VII from the recognized school at the time of admission to the RIMC i.e. on 01 Jul 2020. Viva-voce: the interview will be taken place once the candidate qualifies in the written exam, minimum passing marks in the interview is 50%.
The curriculum of Rashtriya Military Schools:
  • All the Rashtriya Military Schools are affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary School (CBSE), and Admission curriculum followed by schools is common as per CBSE.
  • Compulsory NCC training

To prepare for:

  • The prepare for All India Secondary School Examination of 10th board
  • All India Senior Secondary Certificate Examination of 12th board
  • UPSC examination for admission to NDA and naval academy

The Goals of the Sainik schools are;

  • To prepare boys Physically, Mentally & Academically for the entry in Defence Services (NDA & Naval Academy).
  • To enhance the qualities of children for being a good and skilled citizen.
  • Provide sound general education without religious or cast prejudices and foster leadership qualities

Rashtriya Indian Military College;

The Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun is situated at Garhi Village in Dehradun Cantonment.

Following are the requirements

  • Admissions are held only for the classes 6th and 9th, through all India entrance exam, held annually.
  • Only ‘Boys’ of Defence personnel are taken for Rashtriya Military Schools.

Admission Procedure:

  • Only 25 cadets admitted every six months.
  • Generally, one vacancy per state is reserved for candidates. However, states like UP, Bihar, AP, TN, WB, and Maharashtra have 2(two) vacancy Policies.
  • Admissions made to class VIII only.
  • Selection on the basis of performance in an All India Entrance Examination held twice in a year.

Medical:

Selected candidates will have to undergo medical exam at Military Hospitals as nominated by the Director-General of Medical Services prior to admission and only those found medically fit will be offered admission. The medical examination of the candidate forms merely as a part of the selection procedure and does not imply with the final selection.

Fee Structure:

With largely subsidized by the central government, in 2019, the fee is presently 42,400/- p.a. it may increase as per the time. At the time of admission a security deposit of 20,000/- is to be submitted, which is refundable at the time student pass out.
